Brewery Arts Kendal: Autumn programme of events revealed

The season brings together well-known names and emerging talent across the arts, reinforcing Brewery Arts' role as a key cultural space in the area.

Miriam Randall, CEO and artistic director of Brewery Arts, said: "This autumn, we’re excited to showcase the creativity and ambition that defines Brewery Arts.

"From bold new live music experiences to standout cinema events and inspiring opportunities to get hands-on with the arts, there’s something for everyone.

"It’s a season full of energy, imagination and outstanding talent – and we look forward to sharing it with our audiences."

Among the new additions is the launch of the Jazz Club – a cabaret-style evening focused on up-and-coming jazz performers from around the UK.

The series begins on September 18 with blues-influenced multi-genre musician Will James, followed by saxophonist and composer Eleanor Colee on December 11.

The Jazz Club will feature ambient lighting, cabaret seating and an optional Jazz Dining menu.

Brewery Arts members can also access a 2-for-1 offer on tickets.

Battleship Potemkin with a soundtrack by the Pet Shop Boys will be screened at the Brewery Arts (Image: Brewery Arts) The live music schedule includes an in-conversation performance with singer Horse on September 4, as well as appearances by Gaelic singer Kim Carnie on September 26 and folk band Breabach on October 3.

Jamie Lawson brings his 10th anniversary tour to the venue on October 23, with other performances from Hello Cosmos, MY BABY, and Dub Princess & Hotsteppas.

The spoken word programme includes a Verbalise Special on September 27 with award-winning poet Rose Condo, alongside the launch of new series Poetry Slam-bria in October.

Comedy and theatre highlights include shows from Hollie McNish, Josie Long, Garth Marenghi and Cally Beaton.

The cinema line-up spans popular releases and special events, such as Woman Grows Jeans with a Q&A on September 11, a screening of Battleship Potemkin with a soundtrack by the Pet Shop Boys on September 16, and Breakaway Femmes, a celebration of pioneering women in cycling, on September 18.

Event Cinema titles include La bohème, The Nutcracker, Mrs Warren’s Profession, and Bat Out of Hell: The Musical.

Furthermore, a festive production of Three Little Pigs from the Stuff and Nonsense Theatre Company will be running from December 20 to December 28.

Creative Learning sessions on offer include songwriting, creative writing, lino-cut Christmas card making and festive wild weaving.
