Royal Mail is now on the lookout for new posties in South Cumbria, with a local MP getting behind the recruitment effort.
The historic British postal service, now owned by the Czech businessman Daniel Křetínský, is advertising seven different positions in the area.
The roles that are being offered are what are known as ‘Postperson with Driving’ – the classic delivery postie.
The positions are being advertised in Kendal, Windermere, Grange-over-Sands, Carnforth, Ulverston, Millom, and Barrow.
All seven are being offered on either a part-time or permanent basis.
Prospective posties could earn £13.07 an hour, paid overtime at a rate of x1.25 for anything over 40 hours a week, and 22.5 days holiday.
Full uniform would be provided, and posties are enrolled on a pension scheme, as well as receiving perks like free stamps at Christmas.
Furthermore, Tim Farron, Member of Parliament for Westmorland and Lonsdale, advertised the jobs in a Facebook post last week, on October 3.
He called on his followers to “Please share with anyone you think might be interested.”
