TWO Cumbrian photographers have teamed up to offer a dynamic and 'value-for-money' alternative to traditional wedding photography in the Lake District.
Kelly Gibbons and Cliff Brereton, who both work full-time jobs alongside their pictorial passions, recently launched Hitch and Click, a brand new wedding photography business using drones, 360-degree footage, and a 'transparent' pricing service.
The idea was born out of shared frustration. Both had recently tied the knot themselves and struggled to find reasonably priced photographers.
Kelly's wedding plans were thrown into disarray at short notice when her and her husband Jake's wedding at the Villa Levens was cancelled after the venue suddenly ceased trading in April this year.
"I had quotes for £1,800 and £2,500 for just an afternoon," Kelly said. "In the end, I got friends to take photos because I just couldn’t justify it."
Kelly said: "I wouldn't say we're cheap, but we're more affordable than most, and you get both of us – Cliff does a lot of drone photography and videos, while I’m focused on the ground shots, capturing those special moments close-up."
The duo's packages are refreshingly simple - two options, one longer at £1,000, and one shorter at £500, with no 'confusing' bronze, silver, or gold tiers.
Both packages include traditional photographs, video footage, drone shots, and even 360-degree interactive videos.
Their website is now live, and transparency, they say, was key.
"It used to drive me mad having to email for quotes and then get ridiculous prices," Kelly added. "We wanted to change that."
For Kelly, photography is more than a business - it's a passion. "I'll happily spend hours editing because I love it. It’s exciting seeing what I’ve captured," she said.

"I just genuinely love the excitement of coming back and seeing what pictures I've got and what I can do with them.
"Also, that desperation of wanting someone to capture your day but not having the money for that is why me and Cliff believe everyone should get there special day captured."
On how they can offer a more affordable service than many others, Cliff said simply that they 'take less profit and charge a fairer price for services delivered', emphasizing that with two photographers with different styles, customers get more angles, variation and the pair 'never miss a shot'.
Kelly's dived into the world of wedding photography on September 29, without Cliff, for a delighted Becky and Alan Dimelow at Kendal Town Hall.

After the wedding, Becky said: "I cannot speak highly enough of this amazing photographer. Thankyou so much for being so lovely and making us all feel so at ease.

"We honestly had such a wonderful time, and you were a big part of that."
Hitch and Click's website says: "We make the most of the Lake District's stunning scenery and its many beautiful venues, ensuring your photographs are as enchanting as the day itself."
Hitch and Click is now available for hire, and covers Cumbria as well as Lancashire and North Yorkshire.
