Free festive parking is coming to towns across Westmorland and Furness.
Westmorland and Furness Council is offering a seasonal scheme to encourage shoppers to support high streets in the run-up to Christmas.
The scheme will run every Thursday throughout December, with free parking after 2pm in council-operated pay-and-display car parks in Barrow, Penrith, and South Lakeland.
Councillor Peter Thornton, cabinet member for highways and ICT, said: "Our free parking offer is one way we show our support for the diverse, unique and vibrant shops in our towns and villages in the run-up to Christmas.
"Free parking on a Thursday will help revive the late-night shopping experience many of us remember growing up, supporting a lively and welcoming evening atmosphere.
"I would appeal to everybody looking to do some Christmas shopping to support their local shops and to take the time to experience all the brilliant amenities and attractions these places have to offer."
In Penrith, the scheme covers the Princes Street, Blue Bell Lane, Sandgate, and Drovers Lane car parks.
Barrow shoppers will benefit from free parking at Market Street, Hall Street, Whittaker Street, Emlyn Street, and Fell Street.
In South Lakeland, the offer applies to a wide range of car parks across towns and villages including Bowness, Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere, Kendal, Kirkby Lonsdale, Grange-over-Sands, Ulverston, and Milnthorpe.
Participating car parks in Bowness and Windermere include Quarry Mount, Glebe Road, Braithwaite Fold, Ferry Nab, Rayrigg Road, Rayrigg Meadow, Broad Street, Low Fold, King Street, Lake Road, and Rydal Road.
In Grasmere, the Red Bank Road car park is part of the scheme.
Kendal car parks included in the offer are Kendal Parish Church, Peppercorn Lane, Highgate Bowman, Dowker Lane, Library Road, South Lakeland House, Blackhall Road, and Sandes Avenue.
