A South Lakes club offering new pastimes for retired men is celebrating successful efforts in attracting new members.
Earlier this year, the Kentside Probus Club mounted a campaign to encourage new people to join its fold, targeting men who want to meet new friends and enjoy a variety of activities.
The scheme proved to be successful this month when three new members were welcomed to the club at its regular monthly lunchtime meeting at Crooklands Hotel, whilst a number of other guests came along for the first time to find out what is on offer.

Joint Chairman Nigel Martin said: “We have put a lot of work into getting the message out that we are a lively club for retired men, offering friendship and social activities including ten pin bowling, ice curling, bowls, walking, and quizzes.
"It is great that we are seeing the first results from this campaign, which will be renewed after Christmas."
In between its monthly meetings, the club arranges a number of social activities to get older members of the community out of the house.
Jack Grennell, one of the new members, commented: “As a result of my contact with the club, I have already had a session with an ice curling coach and found it a fascinating activity and a pastime I would like to explore further."
