A man has been charged with drink-driving after being caught nearly three times over the legal limit.
The 30-year-old was arrested in Kendal during the early hours of Saturday morning after a community beat officer suspected him of being under the influence.
Following his arrest, he provided a breath sample showing an evidential reading of 96mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
He now faces a court appearance, along with a potential driving ban, a criminal record, and a fine.
South Lakes Police have issued a stark reminder of the risks associated with drink-driving, particularly with the festive season approaching.
In a statement to social media, South Lakes Police said: "We make no apologies for constantly reminding everyone of the dangers of drink/drunk driving.
"More importantly he put innocent lives at risk.
"Please remember to plan ahead when you go out and have made arrangements to get home safely.
"Drink and drug driving ruins lives and it is completely avoidable."
