The revised application proposes improved defences between Lakeland Distribution Centre and Dale Farm on the Westmorland Business Park.
According to the Environment Agency, the updated plan builds on the 2019 consent, using the "latest data to improve the design of flood protection measures in this area in north Kendal."
The scheme includes a 210-metre reinforced flood wall at Lakeland Distribution Centre and a 370-metre flood embankment along Westmorland Business Park.
Additional improvements comprise improved surface water drainage, an upgraded access track, and landscaping designed to minimise visual impact.
An Environment Agency spokesperson said: "Extensive modelling across the catchment shows the proposed works will not increase flood risk to nearby businesses or homes."
Biodiversity Net Gain is another feature of the plan, which the agency says was developed in conjunction with landowners and approved by Westmorland and Furness Council.
The statutory consultation period for this application, conducted by the council, will last for 13 weeks.
During this period, residents and businesses can view the full application and submit comments directly to the council.
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: "The Environment Agency is committed to continuous engagement and consultation from the initial design and development of the proposed flood embankment through to construction.
"Using new data, the Environment Agency has been able to improve the plans for the flood risk management for the south west Kendal area.
"Following our application for planning permission, there will be a 13-week consultation period, providing residents with a further opportunity to view the plans and give their feedback."
