Part of a Coniston road is scheduled to close for overnight utility works this month.

There is set to be a night-time closure on the B5285.

The closed section will run from its junction with the U5014 northeast to its junction with the C5018.

Westmorland and Furness Council announced the closure in a public notice.

The temporary closure starts on February 19 and can remain in effect for up to 18 months.

However, the council expects the closure to be restricted to just one night, from 9pm to 6am.

Throughout the process, the notice says the pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will have an accessible path, and an alternative route for vehicles will be marked.

This will be accessible through the unrestricted sections of the B5285, B5286, and the A593.

For any queries, the council advises contacting their highway hotline or visiting their website.
