Aspiring artists are being given the opportunity to paint figures in watercolour this weekend.
On Saturday, 7th February, at 11:30, Studio 3 will host a workshop designed to refine the technique.
Led by artist Catherine MacDiarmid, the session, scheduled to conclude at 5 pm, will guide attendees through the essentials of painting figures in watercolour.
The process, which begins with drawing, moves to a meticulous mixing and applying of colours.
Ms MacDiarmid will demonstrate her personal approach while referencing other artists to provide further inspiration.
From still image, participants are encouraged to create their own final piece of artwork.
The workshop offers a first-hand look into the artist's perspective and allows participants the chance to learn from the best.
Attendees are expected to stock up on all painting materials needed for the workshop.
Essential items include a set of watercolours from a reputable brand, watercolour paper recommended to be of a rough surface, and a selection of watercolour brushes.
Water pots, kitchen roll, a palette for mixing colours, and images of the figure the participant would like to paint are also required.
Drawing boards and easels will be available at the venue, helping to create the perfect atmosphere for honing artistic skills.

Given the nature of the course, participants are advised to wear clothes they don't mind getting paint on.

Ms MacDiarmid has 29 years of teaching experience with a portfolio which includes multiple exhibitions, notably the BP Portrait and New Light Art Tour.
Her talent has also earned her many accolades, including the Watercolour Materials Award in the Jacksons Painting Prize 2023.
