A road closure to allow for bridge repairs is causing traffic disruption in Kendal this Sunday (April 12).

The A6 Longpool is currently closed in both directions, which was first reported to the AA at around 9pm on Saturday evening (April 11).

The road is closed from its junctions with Shap Road and Appleby Road to the Station Road roundabout.

According to the AA, the closure has been put in place so that construction and bridge maintenance works can be carried out at the railway bridge at Kendal Station.

At the time of writing, it is currently unclear as to when the road will be reopen again to the public, with reports that a diversion is in place via Sandylands Road.
