A stage show celebrating the life and wit of literary icon Jane Austen is coming to the Lake District next month.
By A Lady will be performed at Theatre by the Lake in Keswick on Tuesday, June 9, at 7.30pm.
The show stars comedian Rachel Parris and actress Doon Mackichan, and tells Austen’s story using her own words, bringing to life familiar characters and moments from her novels.
Theatre by the Lake said: "Set against a sparkling musical backdrop that surprises as much as it delights, we invite you to loosen your stays, and enjoy this celebration of Austen’s wit, sharpness, and sheer delight in the foibles of human behaviour."
The production is written by Deirdre Shields, directed by Judy Reaves, and features music arranged by David Le Page and Nick Stringfellow.
Parris is known for The Mash Report and Austentatious, while Mackichan’s credits include Smack the Pony.
