A major national high street retailer has announced the official opening date for its brand-new store in Kendal.
Seasalt Cornwall confirmed to The Westmorland Gazette in June that it would be opening a store at 7 Stricklandgate.
Work then began at the site, which used to be the home of Yorkshire Bank, and more recently a branch of Virgin Money, with Seasalt logos and imagery appearing on the building earlier this month.
It can now be revealed that Seasalt Cornwall’s new Kendal store will open on Saturday, August 1.
On this date, the team at the store is set to welcome Kendalians for what has been described as ‘the opening celebration’, consisting of a ‘20% off (almost everything)’ sale for the weekend.
Furthermore, the first 30 customers through the door can expect to receive goody bags, including Seasalt favourites.
A spokesperson for the retailer said the opening of the new store is a demonstration of “the brand's continued support for physical retail”.
It is understood there will be a team of nine people employed by Seasalt at the Kendal store.
Talking about the opening of the new store, Seasalt’s Retail Design Team said: “We are delighted to be opening our newest Seasalt store in Kendal, set against the spectacular backdrop of the Lake District.”
They added: “Inside, we have carefully revealed and celebrated the building's original features, uncovering soaring ceilings and beautiful architectural details to create a bright and inviting retail environment.
“The store showcases our Seasalt Lite design concept, where a refined and contemporary palette provides the perfect canvas for our thoughtfully curated collections.”
Seasalt was founded in Penzance, Cornwall, in 1981 by Don Chadwick and originally sold traditional workwear.
The Cornish retailer has since grown into a national and international clothing and accessory retailer – it has stores in Ireland and New Zealand too.
The opening of the new Seasalt store at 7 Stricklandgate is good news for the Kendal shopping scene.
In the last year, the town has lost businesses like Lakeland Leather, Jules B and Bodycare, as well as Joules earlier this month.
The Seasalt Kendal store will be open Monday – Saturday 9:30am – 5:30pm and Sunday 10am – 5pm.
