Police are reassuring residents after a man was arrested in Ulverston town centre following concerns about his behaviour.
Cumbria Police said officers were deployed after receiving a report about a man with "two knives" on Market Street at 7.50pm yesterday (Friday).
Officers arrested the man who they say was "no threat to the public."
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: "We’d like to reassure residents in Ulverston who may have noticed a larger-than-normal police presence tonight.
"Officers were deployed to the town centre and made an arrest following a report at 7.50pm of concern about the behaviour of a man in Market Street.
"It was reported the arrested man – described as white and in a green jacket – was seen in possession of two knives, which he placed in a bag.
"He did not make any threats to anyone and nobody was harmed.
"Our officers attended and the arrest was made. Investigations at this time suggest there was no threat to the public."
