A touch of Christmas magic arrived in the Yorkshire Dales as a supermarket giant prepares for the festive season.
Tesco chose the historic bakery J W Cockett and Son, based in Hawes, as the setting for its Christmas advert, bringing film crews and festive decorations to the town for an evening of filming.
The family-run bakery and butchers, established in 1854 and now led by fifth-generation owners Davey Cockett and his sister Louise Firmage, is well known for its traditional fruitcake.
Mr Cockett said: "I was under the impression it was going to be a general picture of Hawes, to find out they were focusing on our shop and the wee bookshop across the road was a shock."
Filming took place last Thursday with the bakery closing early to accommodate the crew's needs.
Although no filming took place inside the shop, the crew used the space to decorate the windows and power outdoor props.
Mr Cockett said: "All the crew were helpful, respectful and obliging.
"As they carried on their tasks, it got darker and the weather deteriorated.
"Things we're beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
"Then, the snow machine came out.
"The rain was very heavy so top up snow was regularly required."
Filming wrapped up around 10pm after several takes.
Mr Cockett said: "There was a lot of interested onlookers, a mix of locals and visitors, needless to say that very soon it had hit social media.
"I think there is a high degree of anticipation and interest in seeing the final results and seeing our little town on the telly."
