Peter Rabbit fans will soon have a chance to own a piece of childhood magic while supporting a local charity.
Forty sculptures from the Peter Rabbit™: Tales on the Tyne art trail will be auctioned on October 13 at Newcastle Civic Centre to raise funds for St Oswald’s Hospice.
The public trail, featuring 96 sculptures across Newcastle and North Tyneside, has run for nine weeks in celebration of St Oswald’s 40th anniversary and the 160th birthday of Beatrix Potter.
Steph Edusei, chief executive of St Oswald’s Hospice, said: "Not only are these sculptures beautiful and thought-provoking but, through the auction, they will help us provide our care and support free of charge to those who need it most.
"We urge anyone who has enjoyed the trail, who is a Beatrix Potter fan, a fan of the North East or simply wants to help us, to place a bid – so we can be here for them if they ever need us."
The auction will include both large and medium-sized sculptures, some of which were not part of the public trail.
Highlights include "Peter in the Garden" by Emma Bridgewater Ltd and "Ruby Rabbit" by Natalie Radcliffe, designed to mark 40 years of care at St Oswald’s.
A special Snowdog sculpture will also be sold in tribute to the hospice’s 2016 Great North Snowdogs event.
