COMMUNITIES in South Lakeland, Eden and Furness have reacted with disappointment after the Post Office confirmed it plans to press ahead with closing all the branches on its March hit list, despite some passionate campaigns to save a number of them.
Today's announcement has caused particular dismay in Greenodd, Beetham and Leven Valley, Backbarrow, where high-profile campaigns were organised to try and save the branches.
There was also an extra sting in the tail - Post Office Ltd has said it now also wants to close Little Langdale post office.
The company said this was because it had decided to reprieve one of carlisle.gov.uk" target="_blank">carlisle.gov.uk" target="_blank">Carlisle's threatened branches and Little Langdale was being chosen as a replacement closure candidate.
