We must have all dreamed of a big win on the lottery and postal worker, Angela Kelly certainly had a BIG win - £35 million.
She immediately resigned - as you would - but this raises a question for employers, particularly small businesses. If an employee won a fortune, or even worse, a syndicate of your employees won a fortune, would you be equipped to cover their work?
Most employers would not. This highlights the importance of cross-training. Make sure more than one person can do each job, and ideally teach as many people as possible to do each job.
After all, it's not just the highly unlikely big lottery win that you have to consider, sickness can leave a big hole in your work force and reduce productivity enormously.
As the old saying goes - fail to prepare and you prepare to fail - get that training going NOW or it could be you!
