Have you heard the one about the 72 year old who was refused the sale of 2 bottles of wine because he would not confirm he was over 21?
Yes, Morrisons refused to sell them to him because their policy is to ask everyone whether they are over 21.
Now whilst it is laudable to
make efforts to stop children from purchasing alcohol I can actually understand why this chap got a bit cross. When he asked to see the
manager, he too confirmed that they would not sell him the alcohol if he did not confirm that he was over 21. How ridiculous.
Surely common sense would have told this manager that he was not breaking the law by selling this man alcohol. Rules are great, and staff should be encouraged
to follow them, but for goodness sake also encourage them to use common sense to avoid such a silly incident!!
