Twenty year old Megan Thomas has won a claim of unfair dismissal on the grounds of her age.
Megan, who worked as a secretary at a private club, was apparently sacked for being too young to handle client complaints.
This is the first case of its kind and acts as a reminder to employers that even if an employee has not got 12 months service, they may have a valid claim. Megan's employment was terminated after her 6 month probation period was up.
It is likely that the employer will appeal against the decision.
