An agreement announced yesterday by the Government will remove much of the flexibility gained by using agency workers from British business.
The agreement will allow agency workers to receive equal treatment after 12 weeks of employment.
Whilst the TUC argue that agency workers have received unfair and unjustified treatment for far too long, bodies such as CIPD and FSB have raised concerns over the loss of flexibility, particularly for small businesses who rely on the flexibility that using agency workers can give.
Whilst this is on the face of it good news for agency workers, I suspect the long term outcome will be for employers to ensure that contracts are terminated before the 12 week threshold is reached.
