Motorway service staff have presented their local football club with a cheque for £323.85 following events to celebrate its 21st birthday.
The money was raised at monthly car boot sales and a Family Fun Day at Junction 38 Tebay Services, on the M6, earlier in the year.
The money will help Lunesdale United Football Club assist with the running and development of the team and its site. Keen to support local projects, this is the second time Westmorland Limited, which owns the Services, has helped out – the kit the team currently wears was sponsored by Westmorland.
Made up of players from Tebay and the surrounding villages, Lunesdale United Football Club has been running for more than 60 years and has 45 members who play in the first and fourth division of the Westmorland League. The club costs between £3,000 and £4,000 per year to run, the majority of which is raised by the team itself. Chairman Peter Moss said: “We greatly appreciate the donation which will go towards the development of the site.”
