December has been a very busy month so far and at last I have a quiet moment to catch up with my blog, so here goes with my latest instalments.

Thursday 4th December and I was off to have lunch with the Ulverston Ladies Afternoon Guild. Around 40 members sat down to a traditional Christmas Lunch served by the staff at the Old Mill, Bardsea. Everybody had a good time and many were in party mood, every member left with a present from Santa's Sack.

Friday 5th December and I was invited to attend Furness Carers Information Day and Coffee Morning at their base in Queen's Court, Ulverston. It was National Carers Rights Day 2008 and the organisation was highlighting what sort of help and support they give to carers. Being a carer is not easy and many times you need a listening ear or someone to steer you in the right direction for help. It was a very cold day and Derek and I realy enjoyed our chat with the helpers and the hot cup of coffee was very welcome. Thank you to all the volunteers who give freely of their time. If anyone would like further information you can contact Jo White on 01229 822822 or by e-mail jowhite@furnesscarers.co.uk.

Saturday 6th December and it was on to the Coronation Hall for The South Lakes Community Dance Festival. I think this is the 2nd show Louise Walton has put on and what a wonderful event it was. Dancers ranged from tots to teens and all the performances were great. Dance groups taking part included Dance Connect, The Silver Web Academy of Dance, Saxon Meadowcroft's School of Dance,Furness Dance Leaders, The South Lakes Youth Dance Company, Ulverston Victoria High School Dance Group, Sprit of Youth Dance and Dowdales School, Dalton. The Coronation Hall was packed and so infectious were the performances that they had the whole audience dancing at the end of the show.
