WELCOME to ‘Write Up Your Street’, part of The Westmorland Gazette’s ‘Love Local’ campaign, launched this week.

The aim is to turn the spotlight on those streets which are just off the beaten track – the ones that contain small, independent retailers and services – and to give them a much-needed publicity boost to help remind us what a wealth of talents we have on our own doorsteps.

When the going gets tough, even the tough sometimes need a little bit of help to keep going!

No-one has had to ‘pay’ to take part in this editorial feature … but we have asked some of the businesses which have been given a mention if they will contribute to another new feature … good deals and special offers (see The Gazette).

In the weeks to come we will be out and about throughout this newspaper’s circulation area with more ‘write up your streets’.

In the meantime, if you have any suggestions for our new ‘Love Local’ feature, or ‘Write-up Your Street’, drop a line to or email Gillian Cowburn at the following addresses – to Love Local Campaign, c/o Gillian Cowburn, The Westmorland Gazette, 1 Wainwright’s Yard, Kendal, LA9 4DP; email: gillian.cowburn@kendal.newsquest.co.uk.
