A BOWNESS woman has been honoured with a special award in Germany.
Evelyn Blatchley was given the Bürgermedaille in Diessen for her continued support to the town’s twinning with Windermere.
Ms Blatchley received the medal from Diessen mayor, Herbert Kirsch at the town’s New Year’s Reception – where worthy residents are commended every year for community work.
Ms Blatchley was honored on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the twinning, and for her decade-long commitment to the project.
She accepted the medal on behalf of the members of the Windermere & Bowness Chamber of Trade, who are supporting the twinning.
Ms Blatchley is the chamber’s membership secretary and representative of the Windermere Town Twinning Association.
