THREE teenagers have been arrested following the assault of a 39-year-old man from Kendal.

The victim, who received minor injuries during the assault, had been walking up from Kirkland to the town centre when he challenged a group of youths over their use of bad language.

It is alleged that the when the man reached Lowther Street, the group turned on him, kicking and punching.

Two males, aged 16 and 17, and a 15-year-old female, all from the Kendal area, have been arrested in connection with the incident, which took place at around 12.30pm on Saturday (January 17).

They have been bailed to return to Kendal Police Station on Saturday, February 14, while the investigation continues.

“While incidents of this nature are rare in the area, police are warning that such attacks will not be tolerated,” said a spokesperson from Cumbria Constabulary. “Officers are appealing for anyone who was in this busy area at the time and thinks they may have seen something which could help police with their enquiries to contact Kendal CID on 0845 33 00 247 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
