NURSERY children enjoyed the sights and sounds of the outdoors during a fun initiative designed to promote understanding and appreciation of the natural environment.
Children at Kendal’s QKS Meadow View Nursery and Stramongate Nursery completed their first ever Forest School sessions in the woodland by Meadow View.
The initative, which has been part of the early years curriculum in Denmark sinch the 1980s, was developed by the deputy manager of Meadow View, Julie Bland, who completed her Forest Schools Leadership qualification.
This means she can teach children how to make shelters, use natural resources and enjoy night line games and woodland crafts such as making Indian hats, masks, mobiles and even cook on a real campfire.
