A CARE home for people with terminal illnesses is running a new outreach service next month where people can gain advice from an experienced nurse.

St Mary’s Hospice, which is based in Ulverston and Barrow, provides comprehensive specialised supportive and palliative care throughout South Cumbria.

And as part of ongoing developments, an experience hospice nurse will travel on the Hincaster to Crosthwaite Cumbria County Council mobile library route on Wednesday, February 11.

The bus stops at Hincaster from 9.40am to 10am, Sedgwick from 10.15am to 10.45am, Levens from 11am to 11.30am, Leasgill from 11.40am to 11.50am, Heversham from 11.55 to 12.10pm, Halecat from 1pm to 1.10pm, Witherslack from 1.20pm to 1.30pm, Dawson Fold from 2.10pm to 2.20pm, The Row from 2.25pm to 2.35pm and Crosthwaite from 2.45pm to 3.15pm.

Spokesman Zoe Guest said: “We hope to increase access to hospice services for people in remote rural areas and raise awareness of St Mary’s services.

“2009 sees the 100th anniversary of Kendal Library and the 20th anniversary of the opening of St Mary’s Hospice and we are delighted to be working in partnership at this time.”
