THE Union Flag is flying over Windermere again after being removed last summer from beside the town's library because of an unsafe flagpole.
Local resident Don Graham was so disappointed about its removal, he set about trying to get the pole to be repaired.
He enlisted the help of Windermere's town centre manager Paul Holdsworth, who persuaded property servics company NPS NW to provide a new pole.
Meanwhile, Mr Graham asked Ambleside seamstress Barbara Blackwell if she could carry out repairs on the flat itself.
"She was happy to help and mend it for free," said a grateful Mr Graham. Now the flag has been hoisted back in its rightful place.
