THE Westmorland Gazette’s ‘Love Local’ campaign was put in the national spotlight this week when Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron tabled an early day motion in the House of Commons.

“It’s about giving this campaign an extra bit of publicity,” said Mr Farron, Although the motion will not be debated in the House, Mr Farron’s initiative means that other MPs can add their voice to the campaign and perhaps encourage their own constituencies to consider similar support.

Meanwhile, the Gazette’’s ‘Write Up Your Street’ which featured Stramongate in Kendal has received a resounding chorus of approval.

Hairdresser Brenda Lloyd has been on Stramongate for more than 40 years. Commenting on the launch of the campaign she said: “It has all been very positive. It’s obviously what we have been short of. And it has been amazing how many people (having read the report) have said we should support local.”
