As Gordon Brown announces extra support to help the unemployed, Cumbria Rural Enterprise Agency (CREA) and its partners, including Cumbria County Council, are already supporting local people – both employers and potential employees – to improve the Cumbrian situation and get people back into work.
The Return to Work programme has been active across Cumbria since February 2008, funded by Cumbria County Council and the NWDA and with CREA providing the practical delivery of support in Eden and South Lakes.
“The aim has been to get long-term incapacity benefit claimants back into work,” explained Angela Staples, Return to Work Employment Support Officer with CREA.
