VIOLENT attacks on residents in cumbria have fallen and its all thanks to a new campaign say top cops.

One month after Cumbria Constabulary launched its Violence Scars 4 Life campaign - which raises awareness of the effects of violent crime - violent incidents reduced across Cumbria by 23 per cent. There were 587 reports of violent incidents - 177 less than in December 2007.

Assistant Chief Constable Graham Sunderland said: β€œIt is encouraging to see that the number of these types of incidents appear to be falling and we need to build on this good work to continue to reduce violent crime and the devastating effects it can have on victims, their families and local communities.”
