STAFF at an Eden food store will go to work in their pyjamas, dressing gowns, nightcaps and slippers as part of a fundraising campaign.

A giant alarm clock will also welcome customers at Kirkby Stephen’s Co-operative on Redmayne Road on Tuesday (January 27) to help launch the company’s £2 million fundraising campaign for the Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID).

The campaign also aims to increase awareness of deafness and the signs of hearing loss.

During the partnership, RNID is aiming to test the hearing of one million people and will campaign to ensure that everyone over 55 is invited to have their hearing tested on the NHS in the future.

Marjorie Dillon, store manager at the Kirkby Stephen store said: “Coming to work in our pyjamas is bound to get us some strange looks from customers but if we can raise money for this worthwhile cause and give people a wake-up call about their hearing it’ll be a dream come true.”
