A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a disturbance at an Ulverston home.
Police said that at around 10.20am this morning (Thursday), officers were called to a house in Baycliff where they discovered a 36-year-old woman with serious injuries.
A 45-year-old man from the Ulverston area was arrested and taken into custody, where he will be questioned by officers from South CID and Public Protection Unit later today.
The woman was taken to Furness General Hospital for treatment.
Police said that the incident is not being treated as a stranger attack and they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident at this time.
Detective Inspector, Geoff Huddleston, who is leading the investigation said: "Incidents of this nature are very rare in South Cumbria. A full investigation is underway and a man has been detained in Barrow police station as he helps us with our inquiries.”
