THE big day has finally arrived and, across Cumbria and North Lancashire, anxious sixteen-year olds are discovering their GCSE results.

For many young people it will be cause for celebration, safe in the knowledge their college place or apprenticeship is in the bag.

But if your exam results are not what you hoped for, fear not, help is at hand from Lauren Clark and the team at Connexions Cumbria.

“If you do not get the grades that you need – don’t panic,” said Ms Clark.

“If you only missed by one or two grades, perhaps you will still be allowed to do what you had planned. There will be teachers available at schools and colleges that you can go to and Connexions’ personal advisers will be available at both at school and at your local Connexions centre, who can tell you about all the choices on offer.”
