A KENDAL worker turned heads when she donned a pink wig and tutu to trek 14 miles in aid of charity.

Denice Brew, team manager at the town’s Boots store, walked from the branch in Ambleside to the shop in Kendal and raised almost £300 for the Breast Cancer Care Charity.

The challenge was part of a nationwide fundraising effort by the beauty store, which will see Kendal staff take part in a row around Windermere and a tug of war against staff from the Ambleside and Windermere shops.

“It’s a good cause. My mum died of breast cancer when I was five. It was raining and I had blisters but I’m really chuffed I did it,” said the 52-year-old, of Ambleside.

The Kendal store is holding two cycle events on September 10 and 11 where guests including cyclists and emergency services members will cycle bikes in the shop.

Staff will also hit the Kendal Torchlight Parade in a pink Hummer on September 11 to collect donations and there will be another cycle event as well as a fashion show in the store on September 12.
