A FAMILY of five from London had to be assisted from the fells after making a navigational error.
Six members of Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team (LAMRT) were called to help the group, which had ground to a halt on Rossett Ghyll, Great Langdale, shortly after 11pm on Monday.
Nick Owen, LAMRT team leader, said that the family was struggling with one torch, fatigue and cold and one of the group had aggravated an old knee injury.
“We went up and gave them some chocolate and hot drinks and walked them off the fell,” he said.
