A STARS were in abundance at a Kendal school where students and staff celebrated a raft of ‘outstanding’ GCSE results.

In what was the school’s best performance to date, 80 per cent of year 11 students at The Queen Katherine School achieved five or more GCSEs or equivalent passes at grades A* to C.

Head of year Doug Walker said: “This was a great year group and I want to congratulate them all on their outstanding results. These results are well deserved and reflect all the hard work.”

Among the numerous students to achieve A* grades were Jonathan Vince with 10, Daniel Crompton, Nadia Khan and Eleni Wood, who received 8, Hannah Wilson with seven and Adam Hughes, Rory Alderson and Blue Coupe, who all got six.

Sophie Renwick, meanwhile, had 15 reasons to celebrate.

The multi-talented 16-year-old achieved 15 GCSE or equivalent A* to C passes and is now preparing for an exciting future in interior design.

Sophie said she was most proud of her A* in art, adding: “I am going to study art at Kendal College in September. I just like being creative and making and designing things.”

Stephen Wilkinson, head teacher, said: “This has been an incredibly successful year for QKS and I look forward to building on this further in the years ahead.”
