GROUND staff have pulled out all the stops to ensure this weekend’s race meeting goes ahead at Cartmel.

The course has seen more than 50ml of rain fall during the last week, however, after pumping more than 35,000 litres of water away and using ten 60 metre long silage sheets, the racing on Saturday and Monday - Cartmel’s final meeting of the year - should go ahead.

Athea Morshead, clerk of the course, said: “We have had to change the going to soft, heavy on the woodside, and we could do with more of the sunny spells and less of the showers, but we are confident we shall get through.”
