NEARLY 4,000 residents have signed up to a South Lakeland version of a recycling network that has taken America by storm.
Those behind Kendal Freegle claim it is a “friendly, local alternative” to the US-based Freecycle network, which sees people going online to swap unwanted items.
Towns and villages as far as Grange-over-Sands, Newby Bridge, Shap and Sedbergh are covered by the group which moderator Louise Belcher, of Bolton-le-sands, described as “friendly and lively”.
