Kirkby Stephen Grammar School Sports College's bid to host a Department for Education and Skills initiative called the School Sports Co-ordinator Programme, covering the whole of the Eden Valley, has been successful. The Sports College will now receive separate funding to appoint PE staff in all five secondary schools in the area to work with 42 local primary schools to help improve the provision of PE and sport. Each primary school will receive training funds to allow staff to improve their skills. Kirkby Stephen Grammar School Sports College has announced that Becky Richardson, a former pupil of the school, has been appointed as the partnership development manager. Her job will be to co-ordinate the work of teachers in the secondary and primary schools. She is based at Kirkby Stephen Grammar School Sports College.
