THE sun may be shining. The outdoors may be calling. But the summer sports line-up is going to keep many of us glued to the sofa this summer. Summer Olympics, Euro 2004, Wimbledon, Test Cricketthe list goes on. Here's a look at some key sites, and a few sporting ones, that can help you draw up your own tailor made viewing schedule with permission from the family, of course.

If you are doing a summer drive holiday through America, you can find out about everything from the Army/Navy Games to the US Open Golf tournament on www.johnnyroadtrip.com. This anorak's site is geared for the sports touring fan and is driven by every sport imaginable.

In the UK, it is a government site that offers a strong link to sporting events. Visit www.uksports.gov.uk. They have a detailed sporting calendar, and information on how to organise your own major sports event. Of course, there are links to London's hopes for the 2012 Olympics.

With less than 80 days to go until the summer Olympics 2004, the race is on. The official site is at www.athens2004.com and features information on both the Olympic Games, August 13 to 29, and the Paralympic Games, September 17 to 28. You can watch a video of the Olympic Stadium roof closing and other works in progress. You can even spread the word of Olympism' by sending a postcard from the site. For a look at the whole organisation, go to www.olympic.org .

Euro 2004 fever has hit the high streets, the front pages as the England squad has been named and is soon to hit our living rooms. Visit, www.uefa.com and www.euro2004.com for the official sites. Of course there are enough unofficial ones to fill a football pitch. Check out www.euro2004-portugal.org, www.soccerphile.com , www.wsoccer.com and www.2004-euro-championships.co.uk to whet your appetite.

You may even want to set up your own site. You can use our free web site service CommuniGate, link on the home page, Sports section to set up your own football fan website. As long as it meets guidelines and is not for commercial gain, the option is there.

For cricket fans, the summer line-up is looking good, with New Zealand and the West Indies on the cards. Visit www.cricket365.com for the be all, end all web site for cricketers. If you can't wait for the action, you can have some online at www.cricketgames.com. Buyers and players beware. If you want up-to- date news, visit your favourite media sites.

Wimbledon is fast approaching and www.wimbledon.org is the official site with all the news, including the announcement about increased prize money for winners. You might want to see if www.oncourt.info is of interest. This site is database driven and they have a programme available with results from over 120,000 tennis matches! At www.tennisw.com you can join a global online chat forum and get into a discussion or start one on any tennis event or topic like tennis ball machines and tips for new players.

My search for a fan's site turned up a virus so make sure your virus programme is up to date. Searching for sites may be hit and miss, but it seems these days that viruses are like testing athletes for drugs you will know if you've failed the test!

New this week: Visit Leisure Connections to read about people tracing family members, doing research for family trees and trying to find out information about loved ones.
