LANCASTER residents have won thousands of pounds of Government cash to improve their surroundings.
The Ridge Tenants and Residents Association has have been awarded £11,000 for a community garden.
It is one of 32 awards announced by the Living Spaces' programme - a three-year grant scheme aimed at improving the environment.
Successful groups also receive support and expert advice on how to deliver their projects.
A network of trained advisors is on hand to help groups think through ideas, plan projects and develop action plans.
