PATHOLOGISTS are continuing to examine the remains of a badly decomposed body which was found on a Lake District fell.
The examination process, of the remains discovered in woodland near Thirlmere, is including taking DNA samples and looking at dental records to try to identify the deceased.
The process is likely to take considerable time however, due to the extent of decomposition.
A police source said: βIt is basically a skeleton.β
Because there is no central dental database the search may have to be conducted nationwide because of the high volume of visitors to the region.
It is still not known whether the remains, which were discovered in walking clothing, are that of a man or a woman.
