SCHOOL pupils across Cumbria are being geared up for lessons on how to be seen on their bikes during the winter months.
Cyclewise Training and Cumbria County Council's Better Ways to School initiative have joined forces to visit schools across the county to give practical training on safe cycling and road safety as the nights draw in.
The Cycle Safety Scheme has also attracted support from every bike shop in the county, who are offering a 10 per cent discount on all cycle safety products, such as helmets, lights, bells and high visibility clothing.
"The amount of children we see riding their bikes without the correct safety equipment is horrifying," said Richard Martin of Cyclewise Training.
