PUPILS at Queen Katherine School, Kendal are in the process of developing a tranquil garden as part of a community project.
The Prince's Trust group of year 11 pupils wanted to create a garden that can be used by students and local residents as a place to enjoy the environment.
South Lakeland District Council has supported the initiative by donating two compost bins that will enable pupils to dispose of their biodegradable waste and then use the compost on the flowerbeds and vegetable patches.
SLDC's street care manager Phil Turner said that the determination of the pupils to create a new garden in Kendal was commendable.
The group has also involved pupils from Sandgate Special School and Meadow View Nursery in a bid to get more young people involved in the project.
