FURTHER to the letter from S H Singleton about waste removal, I would like to add my own experience concerning the removal of large items.
One Monday I arranged for the removal of an old fridge/freezer. I was told it would take up to 28 days and it must be left out ready for collection.
I duly left the item in my driveway for a week, which did not improve the appearance of the neighbourhood, so the next Saturday night I moved it into the garage out of sight.
The following day, (Sunday) two men called to pick up the fridge/freezer and complained that it should have been left out for them. I explained that it had been an eyesore all week and I had not expected them on a Sunday.
Their answer was that there was less of a traffic problem on a Sunday - but I have to confess my thought was that extra overtime was available on Sundays.
And to cap it all, they complained about the lack of a street nameplate on our cul-de-sac.
