LANCASTER mum Jennifer Wilson will have her bone marrow transplant today (Thursday) - just days after a Citizen appeal helped to find her a donor.
The 35-year-old mum, who is suffering from a rare form of leukaemia, was admitted to Manchester's Christie Hospital at the weekend and has been receiving intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment ready for the operation.
Megan Godden, donor recruitment officer for the Anthony Nolan Trust, says the treatment is necessary to wipe out Jennifer's bone marrow and immune system ready for the transplant.
"Once we find a suitable donor, it is always a bit of a rush because we like to get on with things as quickly as possible," she told the Citizen on Tuesday.
The family - Jennifer, husband Chris and son Ted, pictured right - are coping well, with Chris spending as much time as possible with her, adds Megan.
His sister Carol has travelled from Inverness to help look after Ted.
