THE campaign trail is hotting up in the countdown to the district and parish council elections on May 1.
Nomination papers are in and campaign leaflets are winging their way through letterboxes across the region as each party tries to get voters on side.
The Westmorland Gazette looks at the campaign issues and speaks to key political players in South Lakeland. Elections are also taking place involving Eden District Council, Lancaster City Council, Barrow Borough Council and Craven District Council.
