THE Lakes Market Town Initiative, designed to rejuvenate the communities of Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside in the wake of foot-and-mouth disease, has a new project officer. Donna Lee, from Rydal, in North Yorkshire, will start work on April 28. The team behind the initiative hopes it will be of benefit to locals as well as visitors, and projects could include everything from improved signs to affordable housing for local people.
