IT WAS lessons as usual at Lancaster and Morecambe College on Tuesday as the majority of lecturers decided not to take part in a national strike over pay.
Lecturers union NATFHE called the strike in protest at an offer of a 2.3 per cent pay rise, compared with a 3.5 per cent increase for schoolteachers.
But the majority of
lecturers at the local college decided not to take part in the industrial action, as the college had already offered a pay rise of three per cent.
Union spokesperson Kumar Jani said members did not feel thry had a dispute with college management, and that principal David Roddam had already put forward their case for better pay with the Association of Colleges.
"Members are very much opposed to taking action which affects the quality of teaching and learning and the student experience in general," he added.
